What is cellulite?

With this word we describe dimpled and uneven skin caused by fat deposits just below the surface of the skin. Scientists don’t know for sure what exactly causes cellulite, but they believe it is because a body is unable to get rid of toxins, fat and fluid. They are trapped under the skin, fibrous tissue hardens and we get this awful dimpling effect called “orange peel effect”.

So what can we do about it?

Most times cellulite is caused by a bad diet and a lack of sport, sedentary life. Healthy diet and exercises should become your friends now.

Diet.

Forget about fast food, bad sugars, white flour, sauces, sweet drinks, saturated fats, starches. Try to use less salt in your meals. Give preference to brightly colored fruits and vegetables rich with antioxidants: beta-carotene, vitamins C and E. Beta-carotene you can find in carrots, apricots, asparagus, beet, broccoli, corn, green pepper, kale, mango, peaches, pink grapefruits, pumpkin, spinach, sweet potato, tomatoes, and others. Berries, brussels sprout, cauliflower, oranges, lemons, strawberries, kiwi, papaya, grapefruits are rich with vitamin C. For vitamin E eat nuts, broccoli, spinach, sunflower seeds, turnip, greens, etc. Include into your menu sulfur-packed foods, such as cucumbers, black olives and celery, and vegetables rich in vitamin A (cantaloupe, raw carrots and sweet potatoes). They boost up production of collagen which makes skin more elastic.

Sport.

Exercising, especially cardio, and heavy breathing stimulate your lymphatic system. Why is it so important? Because the lymphatic system serves as a drainage system which helps the body to get rid of all toxins and prevents fibrous tissue under the skin from hardening.

And, of course, no alcohol or smoking.

Other methods.

Move a foam roller onto your skin and stretch as often as you can. It helps loosen your muscle fascia – tight, interwoven fibers of the muscles. When loosened up it allows blood to circulate through those fibers. Thanks to that toxins come out of the body, metabolic rate increases and fatty tissues break up.

Use a hard loofah on problematic areas of your body not less than 15 minutes while taking shower. It will cause the same effect on fat deposits under your skin.

Together with healthy diet and regular exercises these procedures can help significantly reduce or even take away entirely your cellulite.
